    • A spindle motor having a simplified construction with reduced axial and radial deflection while avoiding the half whirl phenomenon includes a motor frame, a rotating shaft supporting a rotor, a stator and stator coil, a permanent magnet opposing the stator, and a liquid dynamic pressure bearing. Magnetic centers of the permanent magnet and stator coil, in the axial direction of the rotating shaft, are substantially matched. The liquid dynamic pressure bearing comprises opposing surfaces of the rotating shaft and the housing. The rotating shaft has a disk-shaped thrust bearing portion disposed in a first portion of a cylindrical hole of the housing, and a radial bearing portion disposed in a second portion of the cylindrical hole. Lubricating oil fills a space between the cylindrical hole and the thrust bearing portion and radial bearing portion, and a presser ring is pressed and fixed into a third portion of the cylindrical hole to seal the bearing. A boss portion of the rotor is fixed to a rotor supporting portion of the rotating shaft so that an inner peripheral surface of the boss portion mates with an outer peripheral surface of the rotor supporting portion. The rotating shaft has three axially-spaced portions, with the disk-shaped thrust bearing portion formed between and having a larger diameter than the other portions. A stage is provided between the thrust bearing portion and the rotor supporting portion to serve as a seat for installation of the boss portion.

    • The invention provides a motor that is provided with a fluid dynamic bearing for rotatably supporting a shaft body, by the dynamic pressure of fluid filling a clearance between itself and a shaft body support part. The motor is provided with: a stator having cores and coils; a rotor having permanent magnets arranged in a ring shape on the radial inner side of the stator, facing the cores and coils; and a fluid dynamic bearing which rotatably supports the rotor with respect to the stator. The fluid dynamic bearing is provided with: a cylindrical shaft body whose cross section is approximately cruciform; a shaft body support part, in which a shaft body insertion hole is formed for accommodating the shaft body; and a fluid which is filled into a clearance formed between the shaft body and the shaft body insertion hole, and there is provided a dynamic pressure generation unit comprising the fluid, and dynamic pressure generating grooves formed in at least one of the outer face of the shaft body, and the inner face of the shaft body insertion hole facing this outer face.

    • In a stationary coil type direct current motor, the motor comprises a case supported by a shaft, and the case is made of magnetic material being high saturation magnetic flux density and high magnetic permeability, whereby magnetic saturation and iron loss can be reduced. The motor is further provided with a plurality of coils mounted on the inner circumference of the case, and the shaft on which a magnet is secured. The magnet is arranged so as to be spaced a predetermined gap from the coils. Furthermore, the case may be a less iron loss material constructed of two layers. A plurality of coils ace mounted on the inner circumference of the case, and the magnet secured to the shaft is spaced a predetermined gap from the coils.

    • An object is to provide an information recording and playback apparatus that is capable of reducing, as much as possible, reading and writing errors caused by magnetic leakage flux on the inner peripheral side of a magnetic disk. An information recording and playback apparatus 1 includes a rotor R rotatably holding a magnetic disk 60 and being provided with a permanent magnet 51 on the outer peripheral surface; a stator core 3 fixed to a base member 2, the stator core 3 protruding to the inner side in the radial direction in such a manner as to oppose the permanent magnet 51, the stator core 3 including a plurality of stator poles 3a around which coils 3b are wound; a shield plate 70 disposed between the magnetic disk 60 and the stator core 3 in such a manner as to cover the stator core 3 and to have a small gap 62 between the rotating body R, the shielding plate 70 blocking magnetic flux from the permanent magnet 51 and the stator core 3; and a magnetic head 61 for carrying out recording and playback of the magnetic disk 60 by moving forward and backward between the shield plate 70 and the magnetic disk 60. The magnetic head 61 moves forward and backward on the stator poles 3a.
