摘要： An optical member includes a first liquid crystal assembly and a second liquid crystal assembly. The first liquid crystal assembly has a liquid crystal layer aligned in a first direction. Light polarized in the first direction is reflected from the first liquid crystal assembly. The second liquid crystal assembly is positioned on the first liquid crystal assembly. The second liquid crystal assembly has a liquid crystal layer aligned in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction. Light polarized in the second direction is reflected from the second liquid crystal assembly. Therefore, an image display quality is improved.

First and second electrodes may be formed on an outer face of the first substrate or the second substrate, and the first and second electrodes have a plurality of openings corresponding to the space-dividing portions. The openings have a first opening width along a longitudinal direction of the space-dividing portions, which is smaller than a line width of the first and second electrodes. The light source may be used in a flat panel display apparatus, such as a liquid crystal display apparatus.

摘要： A display device includes a visible light reflecting layer and a fluorescent layer. The visible light reflecting layer transmits an invisible light. The visible light is reflected from the visible light reflecting layer. The fluorescent layer is on the visible light reflecting layer to generate a visible light in response to the invisible light that has passed through the visible light reflecting layer. The fluorescent layer transmits the visible light reflected from the visible light reflecting layer. Therefore, a manufacturing cost is decreased, and an efficiency of light is improved.

摘要： A display device includes a light source member, a diffusion member and a display panel. The light source member generates a bluish light. The diffusion member diffuses the bluish light to increase luminance uniformity. The display panel includes a liquid crystal layer, a fluorescent layer and a reflective-polarizing member (a reflective polarizer). The fluorescent layer generates visible light based on the bluish light received from the liquid crystal layer. The reflective-polarizing member partially reflects the visible light generated from the fluorescent layer toward the fluorescent layer. Therefore, luminance and viewing angle are increased.
