    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for bending which can apply heating and cooling easily and properly on a metal plate.SOLUTION: The bending device 1 for performing linear heating and bending a metal plate 2 includes a heating head 3 that can heat at a part of top surface of the metal plate 2, a plurality of jacks 4 that support the bottom surface of the metal plate 2 and can extend and contract vertically corresponding to bending shape of the metal plate 2, and a plurality of cooling nozzles 5 that are arranged on the side of tip of the jack 4 and sprinkle cooling water to the bottom surface of metal plate 2. The cooling nozzle 5 is arranged so as to be able to sprinkle cooling water on the entire bottom surface of the metal plate 2, and structured to sprinkle the cooling water on the bottom surface of the metal plate 2 excluding the spot right beneath the part being heated by the heating head 3.
