    • A data processor, which is capable of preventing from causing a harmful influence due to an operation of the other loads, even when the data processor is powered by a battery, which is commonly used by the other loads. A vehicle-mounted personal computer as the data processor is powered by a vehicle-mounted battery via a main power supply circuit. When a key switch is turned on, a start-up circuit in the main power supply circuit outputs a start-up signal after a predetermined time has passed, so that output voltage from the vehicle-mounted battery is stable. After that, the main power supply circuit supplies power to the personal computer. As a result, the personal computer starts up by using a stable voltage. When the key switch is turned off, the personal computer moves to a sleep mode. When the key switch is turned on again, the personal computer returns to a previous condition by performing a resume process. As a result, it is not necessary to read and start up an Operation System every time the key is turned on. When the main power supply circuit detects a falling of the output voltage from the vehicle-mounted battery, the main power supply circuit stops supplying the power after shutting down the personal computer.

    • A high viscosity, high solid volume liquid ink for use in electrophotographic printing systems. A silicone oil carrier material is combined with toner particles (including pigment, binder polymers and charge control agents) in a ratio of about 45% toner particles to 55% carrier liquid. The resultant ink preferably has a viscosity in the range 30000 to 50000 cs. The high viscosity ink of the present invention is preferably applied to a photoconductor material having a latent charged image thereon and a thin pre-wet material applied thereto. The pre-wet material is preferably a low viscosity silicone oil material. The composite layer of the combined low viscosity pre-wet and high viscosity ink permits the polymerized toner particles to migrate toward the latent charged image on the photoconductor surface. The high viscosity ink of the present invention helps maintain uniform dispersion of the toner particles in the liquid carrier. The high solid volume of the ink enables the transfer of less ink to the imaging components of the printing system and thereby enables higher speed printing of images. The chemical inertness of the silicone oil liquid carrier as compared to other known hydrocarbon based carrier materials causes less damage to the imaging components of the printing system.

    • A vehicle-mounted device that enables adjustment by wireless communication from an external portion, of a threshold value employed for detecting strength of a radio wave emitted from a roadside device. A vehicle-mounted device is disposed within an electromagnetic-shield box, and radio waves for activating use are sent from an antenna within the electromagnetic-shield box to the vehicle-mounted device. The vehicle-mounted device, when activated by this radio wave for activating use, sends an activation acknowledgement signal. A computer determines whether the vehicle-mounted device has been activated according to the presence or absence of the activation acknowledgement signal. The computer sends a radio wave from the antenna to the vehicle-mounted device to set a threshold value in correspondence to the presence or absence of this activation, and sets the threshold value of the vehicle-mounted device. These operations are performed repeatedly to adjust the threshold value of the vehicle-mounted device to an appropriate value.
