    • A sheet (1) of mineral wool with an improved water retention capacity, onto which parts of plants (3) are held in place on the surface (2) which faces away from the roof, is well suited for sustaining vegetation on roofs. Particularly suitable parts of plants are rooting shoots, for example sedum shoots, which are attached to the surface of the sheet (1) of mineral wool by means of an organic adhesive (4) which contains starch and/or a suitable polymer as binder. Particularly suitable as tackifier is a waterproof acrylate binder which is permeable to air and water and which decomposes after some time when exposed to the atmosphere. The permeability of the binder is guaranteed by employing it in the foamed state.

    • Laminated mineral wool products which have to comply with high fire protection standards, such as building material belonging to Class A2 according to DIN 4102, require special production expenses if the laminating foil is to be reliably fastened with organic glue without downgrading its fire protection classification. By foaming the glue it is possible to manage with a fraction of the hitherto required quantity of glue without having to accept an essential lowering of glue performance. As a result, organic glue can be used without its fire load having to be neutralised by polluting flame-inhibiting agents. Furthermore the glue foam causes less problems during processing in production, reduces the charged quantity of glue, and reduces the required drying capacities. It is particularly suited for difficult applications such as laminating felt which is rolled for packaging or laminated panels comprising erect fibers.
