    • There is described a patient lift apparatus (1) comprising a supporting frame (10), a boom portion (18) connected to the supporting frame (10) via a pivot joint (PJ1) to allow the boom portion (18) to pivot with respect to the supporting frame (10) about a pivot axis (PA1), a boom actuator (15) to mechanically assist pivotal movement of the boom portion (18) with respect to the supporting frame (10), and a leg/knee support (50) connected to the supporting frame (10). The leg/knee support (50) is configured to be selectively releasable from the supporting frame (10) and comprises a manually-operable release mechanism (51/52/55) forming an integral part of the leg/knee support (50), which manually-operable release mechanism (51/52/55) is configured to allow selective release of the leg/knee support (50) from the supporting frame (10). The manually-operable release mechanism (51/52/55) comprises a retaining device (51) configured to cooperate with a support mount (120) provided on the supporting frame (10) to secure the leg/knee support (50) onto the supporting frame (10), and a manually-operable handle (55) cooperating with the retaining device (51) to allow selective release of the retaining device (51) from the support mount (120) and thereby allow removal of the leg/knee support (50) from the supporting frame (10).

    • The bed (1) comprises a support structure (10) and an actuatable mattress support platform (50), which actuatable mattress support platform (50) comprises a reclinable back section (51) and an actuatable leg section (53/54). The actuatable leg section (53/54) includes a reclinable thigh section (53) and a reclinable lower- leg section (54) that are adapted to move in conjunction with one another. The reclinable back section (51) and actuatable leg section (53/54) are actuatable to adjust a configuration of the actuatable mattress support platform (50) and change the configuration of the actuatable mattress support platform (50) from a substantially flat configuration to a sitting configuration, or vice versa. During a first actuation phase, exclusively the actuatable leg section (53/54) is actuated to raise the actuatable leg section (53/54) with respect to the support structure (10), thereby bringing the actuatable leg section (53/54) to a first intermediate position with respect to the support structure (10). During a subsequent second actuation phase, both the reclinable back section (51) and the actuatable leg section (53/54) are actuated to respectively raise the reclinable back section (51) and raise further the actuatable leg section (53/54) with respect to the support structure (10), thereby bringing the actuatable leg section (53/54) to a second intermediate position with respect to the support structure (10) higher than the first intermediate position. During a subsequent third actuation phase, both the reclinable back section (51) and the actuatable leg section (53/54) are actuated to respectively raise further the reclinable back section (51) and lower the actuatable leg section (53/54) with respect to the support structure (10), thereby bringing the reclinable back section (51) and actuatable leg section (53/54) to selected final positions in which the reclinable back section (51) and the actuatable leg section (53/54) are both raised with respect to the support structure (10).

The boom portion (18) is configured as a telescopic arm (180) comprising an outer member (181) and an inner member (182) that is telescopically received inside the outer member (181) to allow displacement of the inner member (182) with respect to the outer member (181) and adjustment of an effective length of the telescopic arm (180). The patient lift apparatus (1) further comprises a centering system (300, 310-312, 321, 322) configured to center the inner member (182) with respect to the outer member (181) and suppress a clearance between the inner member (182) and outer member (181). The centering system (300) includes a first centering element (310) mounted on the outer member (181) and interposed between an inner side (181A) of the outer member (181) and an outer periphery (182B) of the inner member (182), and a second centering element (320) mounted on the inner member (182) and guided inside the outer member (181). The first and second centering elements (310, 320) are configured to suppress the clearance between the outer member (181) and inner member (182). The first centering element is configured as a bushing member (310) mounted on a distal end portion of the outer member (181), a portion (310A, 310B) of which bushing member (310) extends between the inner side (181A) of the outer member (181) and the outer periphery (182B) of the inner member (182). The second centering element is configured as a guiding member (320) mounted on a distal end portion of the inner member (182) and guided inside the outer member (181).
