摘要： Modified glucagon peptides are disclosed having enhanced potency at the glucagon receptor relative to native glucagon. Further modification of the glucagon peptides by forming lactam bridges or the substitution of the terminal carboxylic acid with an amide group produces peptides exhibiting glucagon/GLP-1 receptor co- agonist activity. The solubility and stability of these high potency glucagon analogs can be further improved by modification of the polypeptides by pegylation, substitution of carboxy terminal amino acids, or the addition of a carboxy terminal peptide selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO: 26 (GPSSGAPPPS), SEQ ID NO: 27 (K-RNRNNIA) and SEQ ID NO: 28 (KRNR).

Sleepers, securing rails to.-Rails are secured to sleepers having end flanges 11 by clamping- bars 19, which have parts 20 extending through slots in side flanges 15 formed on the sleeper. The flanges 15 also receive extensions 24 of a wedge 22 which engage the bar 19 and a brace 17 on the sleeper, and is moved by a set-screw 25 in the brace 17 and locked by set-screws 26 in the side flanges 15 engaging the parts 24. The clamping-bars 19 are pivoted by bolts 21 to the sleeper.

摘要： 2035. Patterson, J. Feb. 1. Steering-engines.-Relates to the construction of steering-gear provided with means for preventing strains due to heavy seas striking the rudder. Fig. 1 shows a sectional elevation, and Fig. 2 a plan of one form of gear. To the rudder head is secured a toothed sector gearing with a pinion B' loosely mounted on a vertical shaft, and formed integral with, or secured to, an internal gear-wheel B . Above is loosely mounted a worm-wheel E, which carries four loose pinions gearing with the wheel B and with a pinion D secured to the vertical shaft. This worm-wheel is driven in the manner shown from the engine G. On the upper end of the vertical shaft is a crank-disc driving a pair of pumps J , J , which under ordinary conditions, owing to the loading of their discharge valves, offer sufficient resistance to prevent the shaft from rotating. Should a heavy sea strike the rudder, the shaft is rotated and damage to the engine or gear prevented. Teeth L on the outer periphery of the wheel B gear with a pinion M, through which the spindle N of the controlling-valve of the engine is rotated. Or the controlling-valve may be actuated from any other part moving with the rudder. In a modification, bevel gear is substituted for the spur gear shown.
