摘要： A fastener assembly for use in a fastener driving tool includes a row of fasteners (16) arranged substantially parallel to each other and a strip (10) having a supporting substrate and an adhesive (22) composition thereon. The supporting substrate has an elongated dimension extending generally in the direction of the row of fasteners. The substrate has embossings (24) formed therein. The adhesive composition is bonded to the fasteners and maintains them in the substantially parallel arrangement in the row. A method for making the embossed strip is also disclosed.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nail quenched only in a selected position by heating a part of the nail up to a temperature higher than a specific temperature, and quenching the part in the next place. SOLUTION: A lower axial part 15 of a positive placement nail 10 is selectively quenched. The selectively quenching action is performed by quenching the nail in the next place by selectively heating the lower axial part 15 from at least about 1400 deg.F, desirably, about 1500 deg.F up to about 2000 deg.F. A heated part of the nail typically made of carbon steel changes to an austenite metallographic structure from a ferrite pearlite metallographic structure by selective heating. A resultantly formed and selectively processed nail has different hardness in a different axial position running along the nail. The lower axis 15 is harder than a residual part of a body part 14 in the other axial position, and a value of Rockwell hardness of a selectively quenched axial part is at least about 45.

SOLUTION: This fastener driving tool 10 includes a reciprocating driver blade 14 and a nosepiece 18, wherein fasteners are continuously fed to the nosepiece 18 for engagement by the driving blade 14 for the next driving into a workpiece 28. Each fastener has a flat surface, and the nosepiece 18 includes a deformation formation 56 formed to be engaged with a part of each fastener. When the fastener is brought into impact by the driver blade 14, the engagement part of the fastener is deformed to be flat in the cross direction to form a deformed part, and the deformed part 38 is formed to provide at least one of the workpiece 28 and a workpiece material 32 fixed to the workpiece 28 with holding force.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate driving into a base material, and to increase extracting resistance at its extracting from the base material by heating a fastener for quenching, and forming an acrylic polymer coating, while quickly cooling the fastener in the water base medium which includes the acrylic polymer. SOLUTION: A continuous stitch body 10 is maintained by wires 14, 16 welded to narrow and long fasteners 12, and the fastener 12 includes a head part 18 and a shaft part 20 and includes carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum or the like in response to the final use and the base material of driving without limiting the combination thereof. Each fastener 12 is coated with a thin polymer coating 34, and the coating 34 coats one or more specified parts or the whole of each fastener 12 in response to the purpose of use, and the coating 34 is composed of the acrylic polymer, copolymer, derivative thereof, and combination thereof. Before coating the coating 34, the fastener 12 is heated to about 204-1,093 deg.C and dropped into a water base medium which includes the polymer so as to be quenched. Driving into a base material is thereby facilitated, and extracting resistance can be improved.

摘要： A fastener assembly includes a row of fasteners having a head, a tip, and a portion of a shank coated with a polymer composition. The polymer composition includes a polymer material such as polyurethane and metal particles. The polymer composition is used to provide improved corrosion and ultraviolet radiation resistance when used with naturally corrosive or pressure preservative treated wood. The fastener assembly is coated with the polymer composition by vacuum coating a dispersion of the polymer composition in a solvent such as water and removing the solvent.
