    • A mobile communication terminal and a control method thereof are provided, where a plurality of antennas receives signals from systems having different frequency bands and a plurality of system modems communicates with the systems having the different frequency bands, respectively. A switching unit positioned between the plurality of antennas and the plurality of system modems selectively connects the plurality of antennas with the plurality of system modems. In a handover between the systems having the different frequency bands, a controller controls the switching unit to connect the system modem of a handed-over system to a predetermined one of the plurality of antennas.

    • Disclosed is a method for controlling activation/deactivation of two kinds of operation modes of an MMMB mobile terminal during handover between different types of systems. To control the activation/deactivation, a system controller instructs the mobile terminal to activate/deactivate the operation modes or provides activation/deactivation conditions to the mobile terminal. In particular, when the mobile terminal in communication is situated in a border cell neighboring a target system, the mobile terminal activates target system-related modules and then performs handover into the target system according to predetermined conditions after the passage of a predetermined time period. Such a handover method minimizes time required for performing handover, prevents deterioration of call quality during the handover, and saves power consumption of the mobile terminal.

    • A terminal, a method for operation of the terminal, and a method of interworking in a wireless communication system including an advanced network and a legacy network are provided. The method for operating the terminal includes monitoring a paging channel of the legacy network for a data paging message and a Circuit Switched (CS) paging message, when the terminal is in an idle state, receiving one of the CS paging message and data paging message, establishing a connection with the legacy network corresponding to the received one of the CS paging message and data paging message, wherein a CS voice connection is established with the legacy network if the CS paging message is received and a Packet Switched (PS) data connection is established with the legacy network if the data paging message is received, and performing a handover to the advanced network from the legacy network, if the PS data connection is established with the legacy network.

    • An outer loop power control apparatus and method in a mobile communication system are disclosed. If a first received frame has no errors and the raw BER of the first received frame is equal to or greater than a predetermined raw BER, a power control mode is changed to an adjustment mode. If a second received frame following the first received frame has no errors and the raw BER of the second received frame is less than the threshold raw BER in the adjustment mode, a target Eb/No is decreased by a product of a first step coefficient and a decrement unit. If the raw BER of the second received frame is equal to or greater than the threshold raw BER, the raw BERs of the first and second received frames are compared.
