摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element with improved photoelectric conversion characteristics through a pigment sensitization phenomenon by the use of Monascus Yellow pigment that is an inexpensive and harmless natural dye. SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element 1 is formed of: a translucent substrate 2 on one principal plane; a translucent conductive layer 3 formed on the translucent substrate 2; a porous semiconductor layer 4 formed on the translucent conductive layer 3; Monascus Yellow pigment 5 arranged on the porous semiconductor layer 4; a photoelectric conversion layer 6 formed of the translucent substrate 2, the translucent conductive layer 3, the porous semiconductor layer 4, and the Monascus Yellow pigment 5; a counter electrode 12 arranged countering the photoelectric layer 6 at regular intervals; a charge transport layer (an electrolyte layer) 7 arranged between the photoelectric conversion layer 6 and the counter electrode 12; and a sealing member 8 formed by surrounding circumferences of the photoelectric conversion layer 6, the charge transport layer 7 and the counter electrode 12.
