Turning of the turning shaft 9 due to the turning of the cam 11 contacts/separates the wiper 6 to/from the surface of the glue drum 5 for a certain period of time so that the glue attached on the surface of the glue drum 5 when separating is applied to the back surface of a book body moving above the glue drum 5. An arm 23 is fixed on one end of the turning shaft 9, and a position-changeable stopper 25 is provided which contacts the arm 23 to stop the turning of the turning shaft 9. The stopper 25 is positioned at a set value previously set in memory according to the thickness of the glue to be applied to the book body.
