The first quantum dots layer 103 includes a population of quantum dots 106 dispersed in a first matrix material 107. Each of the first and second phosphor layers 102, 104 includes a population of conventional phosphor particles 105. Another embodiment is a lighting device 400 that includes a light source 401 and a wavelength-shifting phosphor layer 402 disposed on top of the light source 401. The wavelength-shifting phosphor layer 402 includes a population of quantum dots 404 and a population of phosphor particles 403 both dispersed in a matrix material 405.

    • An LED lamp including a light guide/light pipe, and a method of reflecting light using same, are disclosed. The LED lamp includes a transparent light pipe enclosed in an envelope, where the light pipe has a lower section and an upper section. The lamp also includes an LED in a recess at a lower end of the lower section, and a reflector formed by an indentation in an upper end of the upper section. The lower section may be a compound parabolic concentrator, and the upper section may be a tapered cylinder. The lower section of the light pipe collects light emitted from the LED, the upper section of the light pipe directs the collected light onto the reflector, and the reflector reflects the directed light in a radial direction.

    • An over-the-air (OTA) bootstrap method and system are described, including: when a connection between a user-registered terminal device and a device management (DM) server is finished, the terminal device sends a bootstrap confirmation message to a service center corresponding to port information of a valid service center pre-stored in the terminal device; the service center analyzes the bootstrap confirmation message to determine a device ID of the terminal device, connects with a DM server authorized by the service center, and searches for an OTA bootstrap record corresponding to the device ID in a database of the authorized DM server; if the service center fails to find the corresponding OTA bootstrap record in the database of the authorized DM server, the service center notifies the user that the terminal device has performed an OTA bootstrap with an unauthorized DM server. The present invention can improve the security of the OTA bootstrap.

    • A mechanical interface for a glass bulb is provided. The mechanical interface includes a connector and an optical mount. The connector is in contact with the glass bulb. The connector may be a separate component attached to the glass bulb, or may be a continuous part of the glass bulb, such that the connector is itself made of glass. The optical mount is configured to receive the connector. In so receiving, the optical mount operatively couples with the connector so as to secure the glass bulb in a position. The optical mount is also configured to attach to a lamp housing. A solid state light source retrofit lamp may thus be formed of a lamp housing including a solid state light source light engine and its required components, a glass bulb, and a mechanical interface for the glass bulb.
