When the driving wheels run without generating a slip, clamping force is computed in response to the input torque input from the engine to the continuously variable transmission CVT, and when the driving wheels slip, clamping force is computed in response to a larger one of the input torque input from the engine to the continuously variable transmission CVT and the transmission torque capacity of the clutch.
