Exhaust recirculation (external exhaust recirculation) through the exhaust recirculation mechanism is stopped (S17, S22) from fuel cut operation end to elapse of the EGR delay time TEGRDLY.

SOLUTION: The air-fuel ratio control device 1 of the internal-combustion engine is operated in changing-over between the all-cylinder operation and the partial cylinder resting operation in which at least part of the cylinders is/are put out of service and controls the air-fuel ratio of the mixture gas in accordance with the sensing value VLAF of the oxygen concentration sensor 11 to sense linearly the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas, wherein the deterioration judgement of the oxygen concentration sensor 11 and the correction of the air-fuel ratio controlling parameter KACT used to make the air-fuel ratio control are conducted on the basis of the sensing value VLAF of the oxygen concentration sensor 11, and at least either of the deterioration judjement and the correction is prohibited while the engine 3 is in changing-over between the all-cylinder operation and the partial cylinder resting operation.
