      SOLUTION: An irregularity determination part 35 outputs irregular signal when output voltage of the manifold pressure sensor 5A is not in a predetermined range. A manifold pressure estimation part 30 calculates manifold pressure estimation value PMcal from engine speed, throttle opening and atmospheric pressure. The manifold pressure estimation part 30 uses the estimation value PMcal as the alternative value to output of the manifold pressure sensor 5A, and continues engine control when the manifold pressure sensor 5A fails.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compensation device used when both manifold pressure sensors of two systems are wrong.
      SOLUTION: A first comparison part 29 determines an abnormality, when detection pressure PMa and detection pressure PMb of two sensors 5A, 5B are different from each other. A manifold pressure estimation part 30 calculates a manifold pressure estimation value PMcal from an engine speed, throttle opening, and atmospheric pressure. A calculation part 32 calculates difference ΔPMb between the detection pressure PMb and the estimation value PMcal. The calculation part 31 calculates difference ΔPMa between the detection pressure PMa and the estimation value PMcal. In the event of the failure, a second comparison part 33 identifies one manifold pressure sensor with larger difference out of the ΔPMa and ΔPMb as an abnormal manifold pressure sensor. After the identification of the abnormal sensor and when something is wrong with the other manifold pressure sensor 5x, the estimation value PMcal is used as a substitution value to continue the engine control.
