    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sense the position of a railroad vehicle without installed track circuit and accomplish the railroad operation with smaller degree of dependence on the ground facility. SOLUTION: The coordinates in the earth coordinate system of the current vehicle position are measured using a GPS satellite 6, and on the basis of the measuring result, the nearest ground facility on the start point side for the vehicle position and its mileage are determined from a track management information DB 1014. Then the coordinates in the map coordinate system of the vehicle position and the nearest ground facility on the start point side are determined, and the track vector data R is read from a track layer 1012a of a map information DB 1012, and the length Lm along the track 5 between the vehicle position and the nearest ground facility on the start point side is calculated. The actual distance Lr is calculated from the reduced scale of the map and added to the mileage of the nearest ground facility on the start point side, and the mileage of the vehicle position is calculated. The sort of of the signal is displayed by comparing, for example the difference in the mileage between different vehicles calculated with the safe braking distance, and the driver performs operating navigation.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent burning of a railway signal protector and a railway signal apparatus due to continuous abnormal current by a ground fault accident without involving a large amount of cost.
      SOLUTION: A grounding pole line 14 of a three-pole arrester 11 for a first protector 10 and a grounding pole line 24 of a three-pole arrester 21 for a second protector 20 are connected to a grounding line 8 through a relay contact 31. When thunder does not come close, the relay contact 31 of a relay 32 is open, and thereby the railway signal protector achieves a measure against the ground fault accident. When thunder comes close and a detection signal of an electric field sensor 34 exceeds a threshold value, a detection circuit 33 drives the relay 32 to close the relay contact 31, and thereby the railway signal protector achieves a measure against the thunder damage.
