    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decladding method in which a spent fuel rod having radiation properties can be reprocessed by remote control without complicated mechanism and device and also to provide the decladding method in which the operation ratio of a facility which can reprocess both the fuel rod for LWR and the fuel rod for FBR can be improved.SOLUTION: The decladding method of the spent fuel rod composed of fuel stored in a cladding tube in a reprocessing step of the spent fuel rod in a nuclear reactor, includes: a step of shearing the fuel rod into pieces; a step of crushing the fuel in the cladding tube by freely dropping fuel rod sheared pieces under gravity; a step of separating the cladding tube and the fuel by a sieving machine; and a step of pulverizing the separated fuel.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic level gage which is capable of accurately measuring the level of a liquid surface of a liquid in a vessel at the time when the liquid having solid contents is injected. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic level gage 1 is installed in a hood 13 provided for a mortar injection device 12 of the solidifying equipment 10 of radioactive waste. The ultrasonic level gage 1 has a piezoelectric vibrator 2 and a cylindrical cone 4 fitted with a sound absorbing member 5 inside, which are attached to a head part 3. The sound absorbing member 5 is a hydrophilic and open-cell member (e.g. sponge). At the time when mortar 19 is injected from a mortar injection pipe 14 into a drum 20 filled with radioactive solid waste 21, an ultrasonic wave 8 is sent from the piezoelectric vibrator 2 to the liquid surface 22 in the drum 20. In the case when the mortar 19 scattered on the occasion of injection of the mortar sticks on the inside of the sound absorbing member 5, a solid such as sand and water contained in the mortar are absorbed into the sound absorbing member 5.
