As a result, the displaying of the determination result by the pressure determination means on the display and the outputting through voice enable the operator to quickly adjust the pressurizing means to obtain proper elastic images. A pressure sensor for measuring the inner pressure of the balloon is included in the apparatus. An image display part displays a pressure status monitor 60 for expressing the transition of the pressure measured by the pressure sensor, and a balloon status monitor 62 for expressing the dilation and contraction degree of the balloon, based on the pressure measured by the pressure sensor. Consequently, an examiner can grasp visually which compression is imposed to the biological tissue by his/her manual operation and how the balloon is dilated/contracted.
