    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in manufacturing a polymer by the ring-opening polymerization reaction of the cyclic dimer of an α-hydroxy carboxylic acid, a means for removing the cyclic dimer of the α-hydroxy carboxylic acid that remains the unreacted monomer and preventing the quality loss of the obtained polymer. SOLUTION: The method is the one for removing, in the manufacture of the polymer by the ring-opening polymerization reaction of the cyclic dimer of the α-hydroxy carboxylic acid, the unreacted cyclic dimer of the α-hydroxy carboxylic acid. The method comprises adding, to the reaction product of the ring-opening polymerization reaction, a mixture of an antioxidant, a catalyst deactivator and the cyclic dimer of the α-hydroxy carboxylic acid and conducting the mixing and evaporation of the cyclic dimer of the α-hydroxy carboxylic acid under reduced pressure.       SOLUTION: Concentrated lactic acid is supplied to a lactic acid condensing device 4 to form a lactic acid oligomer. The lactic acid oligomer is supplied to a tank type first continuous depolymerizing device 29 and brought into mixing contact with a catalyst to form a lactide. The residue of the reaction liquid is continuously supplied to a second continuous depolymerizing device 54 to which a centrifugal thin film evaporation device is applied and the lactide is further formed. The residue liquid thereof is supplied to a third continuous depolymerizing device 71 to which a lateral type twin-screw stirrer is applied and the lactide is further formed. The lactide formed in each depolymerizing device is each treated in a partial condensing device 35 and the like and impurities are condensed and fed back to the lactic acid condensing device 4. Lactide vapor is condensed and recovered by a lactide condensing device 37 and the like and individually treated by a refining device 116 to be refined.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a continuous process for continuously synthesizing an oligomer by sufficiently progressing the concentration and condensation of a raw material in the oligomer synthesis using a hydroxy carboxylic acid as the raw material.
      SOLUTION: Lactic acid is continuously transported from a lactic acid feeder 1 to a lactic acid-concentrating device 2, and water is evaporated by heating. The concentrated lactic acid is continuously transported to a concentrated lactic acid-condensing device 3, and the condensation reaction is progressed by heating/reduction of pressure. The oligomer is continuously discharged from the concentrated lactic acid-condensing device 3, and transported to to a depolymerization device 4. Steam is condensed and removed by condensation devices 7, 8. The lactic acid-concentrating device 2 and the lactic acid-condensing device 3 are horizontal type polymerizers, and the reaction products flow in the horizontal direction from the inlet side to the outlet side while keeping piston flow properties by the difference of heads. The vapor lactide generated at the depolymerization device 4 is recovered by a lactide-recovering device 6.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for synthesizing polymers from a raw material in a molten state by which high quality polymers can be obtained.
      SOLUTION: The operation procedure of this synthesizing apparatus is as follows. A lactide fed from a lactide feeding apparatus 1 is heated to be molten in a lactide melting apparatus 2 and to the molten lactide, a catalyst is added in a catalyst feeding apparatus 3. The molten lactide is fed through a lactide feeding apparatus 4 to a horizontal reaction vessel 5 and in the vessel 5, a polymerization reaction of the lactide is progressed by a head pressure difference while the lactide flows. The reaction liquid discharged from the vessel 5 is fed into an upper part of a vertical reaction vessel 6 and flows through the inside thereof by the gravity to thereby progress the polymerization reaction. Thereafter the reaction liquid is transported into a remained lactide removing apparatus 7 to remove unreacted lactide and is discharged out of the apparatus 7.
