摘要： A multielement radiation detector in which many elements are arranged in array. Each element includes a scintillator which is tilted with respect to the incident direction of radiant rays, and a silicon photodiode which is opposed to the plane of incidence of the scintillator. The light-receiving plane of the silicon photodiode is tilted to meet the inclination of the scintillator. Therefore, the gradient of detection sensitivity distribution is reduced in the thickness direction of the detectors.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a detector with a high light output, by using a scintillator powder as given by a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:A scintillator powder that emits light by radiation employs a sintered body with a high light transmissivity having a composition of the formula (Ln1-x-yPrxCey)2C2S:(X), wherein Ln represents one or more kinds of elements selected from a group of Gd, La and Y, (x) are value in a range of 3X10 . The amount of X is expressed by 2-1,000ppm (by weight). One or more are selected from Li2GeF6, (NH4)2GeF6, Na2GeF6, Na2GeF6 and the like to be added at a rate of 0.001-10wt% to the powder as sintering assistant, the mixture is vacuum sealed in a metal container to be subjected to a hot static pressure and furthermore, annealed to obtain a light transmitting sintered scintillator, which is combined with a photodetector to detect emission thereof. The sintering assistant to obtain light transmissivity is preferably 0.01-4wt% for the adding amount, 1,100-1,500 deg.C for the temperature and about 800-1,800atm. for the pressure. Annealing for a higher emission output is performed in an inert gas.

摘要： PURPOSE:To achieve a higher emission output, by using a rare earth oxysulfide powder containing a sintering assistant added as the material to sinter it by the hot hydrostatic pressing method. CONSTITUTION:A sintering assistant is added to a rare earth oxysulfide powder and the mixture is sintered by the hot hydrostatic pressing method to obtain a scintillator material as a light transmitting and highly dense sintered compact. The addition of the sintering assistant is preferably 0.001-10wt%. The rare earth oxysulfide is as given, for example, by the composition formula (Gd(1-x-y) PrxCey)2O2S:(F) or (Cl) with 3X10 .

CONSTITUTION:A fluorescent body 602 is not flat at the end parts thereof and formed so as to make the thickness thereof thin as approaches the end parts thereof. When the thickness of the end parts becomes thin, a three-dimensional angle anticipating a photoelectric converter element 202 becomes large and the distance to the photoelectric converter element 202 becomes short and, therefore, quantity of arrival light increases and the sensitivity at the end parts is enhanced. As a result, image quality can be enhanced.

摘要： PURPOSE:To uniform the sensitivity in an element to incident X rays by putting a photodetector substantially opposite to the radiation incidence side of a scintillator, increasing the photodetection quantity of fluorescent light at a part distant from the photodetector, and decreasing the photodetection quantity of fluorescent light at a nearby part. CONSTITUTION:An incident radiation beam 2 is transmitted through a light shield plate and reflecting plate 5 to reach a powder scintillator 6 arranged slantingly to the optical axis of the radiation beam 2, and the beam is converted into light. The majority of the reflected light is radiated to the radiation incidence side of the scintillator 6. This light is reflected by a light reflecting film 9 provided on the surfaces of the reflecting plate 5 and a partition plate and photodetected and converted into an electric signal by a semiconductor photodetector 7. The semiconductor detector 7 is elevated to the scintiallator 6 by distance (x) and turned by an angle theta to increase the degree of the confrontation between the scintilator 6 and detector 7, photodetecting the emitted light of the scintilator 6 uniformly.

This light guide 2 is made of a material which has high transmittivity for the light emission wavelength of the scintillator 1 and low transmittivity for radiate rays. Consequently, the radiation as a noise source is prevented from entering the photodetecting element 3 to supply light emitted from the scintillator 1 to the photodetecting element efficiently.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain high light output, by forming a scintillator from a substantially transparent polycrystalline substance comprising rare earth element oxysulfide. CONSTITUTION:The scintillator detecting the light emitted from a radiation detector is formed of a substantially transparent polycrystalline sintered body composed of rare earth element oxysulfide. The transparent sintered body of rare earth element oxysulfide is obtained by packing a capsule with a specimen and applying hot pressurization to the packed capsule under static pressure. As the material of the capsule, glass or a metal easy to deform at high temp. is pref. and, especially, as the capsule material used in the rare earth element oxysulfide type scintillator, it is pref. to use quartz or pure iron. By this method, the rare earth element oxysulfide sintered body having high transparency can be obtained and the light output of the radiation detector wherein said sintered body and a silicone photodiode have been combined increases to a largerextent as compared with a conventional one.
