    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the use of a gas filling hole for sealing gas inside a gas chamber in a hydraulic shock absorber. SOLUTION: An outer shell 2 which houses parts inside the hydraulic shock absorber such as a cylinder, a piston, a piston rod or the like is coupled to a joint 56 of an assembling device 54 to make the gas pressure chamber 55 and an interior portion of the outer shell 2 communicate with each other. A low-pressure gas is supplied to the gas pressure chamber 55 and the interior portions of the outer shell 2. Under the pressure of the low-pressure gas, an oil tank subassembly S is inserted and press-fitted into the outer shell 2 to form an oil tank 10 and the oil chamber 13 and the gas chamber 14 are defined with a diaphragm 12.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic shock absorber (a cylinder device) for smoothly exhausting air intruding inside a bump cap with an easy structure, since the air in the bump cap easily remains, when dust is mixed in without sufficiently exhausting the air.
      SOLUTION: A through-hole 14Ad penetrating through a cylinder part 14Aa is arranged on a side surface of the cylinder part 14Aa of the bump cap 14A, by forming a claw-shaped engaging part 14Ae by bending a part upward on the lower end side toward the inside from the outside in a predetermined range. The engaging part 14Ae forms a clearance chamber 16A surrounded by an under surface of a cover part 14Ab, an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder part 14Aa, an upper surface of an outer cylinder 3 and an outer peripheral surface of a piston rod 4, by abutting on an upper end part of the outer cylinder 3, and the clearance chamber 16A communicates with the through-hole 14Ad. Thus, the air intruding inside the bump cap 14 is smoothly exhausted outside from the through-hole 14Ad, and the dust is hardly deposited, and a seal 6 and the piston rod 4 can be prevented from being damaged.
