    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an uninterruptible power supply device of lower cost and smaller size by reducing a discharge current flowing a DC-DC converter at commercial power source failure. SOLUTION: A DC-DC converter 5 that normally charges a storage battery steps up and discharges a storage battery 7 at commercial power source failure so that a DC power is supplied to an inverter 3. The operation of a converter 2 which converts AC to DC when a commercial power source is normal is stopped on the occurrence of failures with a commercial power source 1, and a switch 13 keeps the converter 2 and the storage battery 7 in connected state. Under this condition, a switching element 22 of the converter 2 operates in the same manner as the DC-DC converter 5, to allow the storage battery 7 to supply power to the inverter 3. With this configuration, a plurality of DC-DC converters are allowed to operate at commercial power source failure, reducing the currents flowing the DC-DC converter 5. The cost of the switching elements 21 and 22 can be reduced while the number of workers can be decreased, with a reactor for the DC-DC converters being miniaturized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly make a diagnosis of the life of an accumulator irrespective of the degree of a load without installing an exclusive discharging circuit, in an uninterruptible power supply device having a converter that is not equipped with a regenerative function. SOLUTION: The uninterruptible power supply device comprises: the converter 2 that is not equipped with the regenerative function that converts an AC fed from a commercial power supply 1 to a DC; a smoothing capacitor 3 that smoothes the DC converted by the capacitor; an inverter 4 that converts the DC smoothed by the smoothing capacitor to an AC, and feeds it to the load; and the accumulator 8 that is connected, via a DC/DC converter 7, to a DC circuit to which the smoothing capacitor is connected. The uninterruptible power supply device is also characterized in that: a discharging current is made to flow to the smoothing capacitor from the accumulator by controlling the DC/DC converter, to raise a voltage of the smoothing capacitor; an accumulator diagnosis means 20 that makes a diagnosis of the life of the accumulator on the basis of the discharging current and an accumulator voltage at that time is arranged; and the discharging current is made to sufficiently flow by using the smoothing capacitor. • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce positive and negative surge voltages generated at the output terminal of an UPS, without increasing the number of parts by equipping a charger with a means which is connected to the output terminal and rectifies the positive and negative voltages together, and a capacitor for smoothing the output of the rectifying means. SOLUTION: In an uninterruptible power supply, which converts a DC power of a battery into an AC power at the service interrupt and outputs it to an output terminal 4 to which a load is connected, the input terminal of a full-wave rectifier 31 capable of rectifying both the positive and negative voltages is connected to the output terminal 4 of the UPS, and a capacitor 10 connected in parallel to the output of the full-wave rectifier 31 and a regulator 11 which charges a battery 8 are connected. Consequently, the voltage of both terminals of the capacitor 10 becomes the maximum voltage of a first or second AC power. As a result of this, high surge voltages generated at the UPS output terminal 4 are absorbed by the capacitor 10 via the full-wave rectifier 31, and surge voltages are reduced. Accordingly, it becomes possible to have the performance of the UPS improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load of an inverter of an uninterruptible power supply, when a commercial power supply system is normal by connecting its important load with a master output terminal having a stationary voltage compensating function and an active-filter function which are generated through the inverter, and by connecting its other loads with a bypass-output side. SOLUTION: When starting an uninterruptible power supply, an input-side relay 2 is opened, and switches 9a, 9b are both connected with a bypass-output 13 side not to connect an inverter 7 with any loads 5a-5d. When a commercial AC power supply 1 with a rated voltage and a stationary frequency is inputted, in a service-interrupt sensing circuit, the effective value of the input voltage is computed by an effective-value computing circuit to close the input-side relay 2. Also, the switch 9b is set to the bypass-output 13 side at it is. On the other hand, when starting the uninterruptible power supply, an inverter-fault sensing circuit starts its operation too. That, is the effective value of the output voltage of the inverter 7 is determined by an abnormal-voltage discriminating circuit, the presence of the abnormality of its gate signal is discriminated. Then, if there is no abnormality, the switch 9a is connected with an inverter-output 12 side.
