SOLUTION: The zero-phase voltage V0 is peak-held on positive and negative polarities, respectively, to obtain a waveform attenuated with a definite time constant (in the vicinity of electrical angle 120°). The effective value of this waveform is calculated and compared with a predetermined setting value. If the effective value is larger as a result of comparison, a ground fault exists.
