    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device with enhanced safety detecting a use of a forged finger and personation of an ill-willed user in an authentication device using the vein.SOLUTION: The biometric authentication device comprises: a housing including a placement surface on which a subject is placed; a detection unit that detects light transmitting through the subject and acquires an image; and a bio-information extraction unit that extracts bio-information from the image acquired by the detection unit and performs biometric authentication. When detecting that the subject is placed on the housing, the detection unit acquires an image of a contact part as a first image, and an image of a non-contact part as a second image, and when detecting that a pressing degree of the subject onto the placement surface is changed, acquires an image of a contact part as a third image, and an image of a non-contact part as a fourth image. The bio-information extraction unit determines whether or not the subject is a living body on the basis of vein images in the first image, the second image, the third image, and the fourth image.
