The distance sensor 14 is configured to output the detection signal of the highest intensity when the direction of the directional axis of the ultrasonic wave and the normal direction of the surface are parallel to each other. The control part has an ultrasonic wave detecting means detecting the ultrasonic wave by using the detection signal and an inclination detecting means detecting an inclination state in which the axis of the boring bit 2 is inclined to the normal based on a detection result obtained by the ultrasonic wave detecting means.
