      SOLUTION: In the display, a first circuit wherein first TFT elements, first electrodes connected to source or drain of the first TFT elements and second electrodes each forms a counterpart to each first electrode are respectively disposed in a matrix shape in a first direction and a second direction is provided in a first region and a second circuit having a plurality of second TFT elements is provided in a second region positioned on the outer side of the first region. The plurality of second electrodes disposed in the matrix shape are made common to each second electrode arranged along the first direction and each of the second electrodes which are made common is connected to any one of a plurality of power supplying wiring lines for a common electrode via third TFT elements provided in a third region positioned on the outer side of the first region and on the outer side of the second region of the surface of an insulating substrate.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display that can prevent leak current from being generated in a semiconductor layer of a thin film transistor and can achieve a high-luminance display despite its simple configuration.
      SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes: a liquid crystal panel comprising first and second substrates, both being arranged facing each other while sandwiching liquid crystals; and a backlight arranged on the side of the second substrate in the liquid crystal panel. On each pixel on a liquid crystal-side of the first substrate, there are formed: the thin film transistor to be turned on by a scanning signal from a gate signal line; a pixel electrode of a transparent conductive material, to which a video signal is transmitted from a drain signal line through the thin film transistor that is turned on; and a counter electrode of the transparent conductive material, to which a signal serving as a reference for the video signal is transmitted through a counter electrode signal line of a metal layer. In the thin film transistor, the gate electrode is formed above the semiconductor layer and is located on a lower layer of the counter electrode signal line via an insulating film. The semiconductor layer, except a region on which at least the electrode is formed, is arranged overlapping with the counter electrode signal line.
