The liquid crystal display panel has the polarizing plate between the second substrate and the transparent cover.       SOLUTION: When a flattening layer 37 for flattening a color filter layer 36 is formed, the material of the flattening layer 37 is photo-cured locally by using a grid polarizer mask provided with a slit-shaped aperture part, and then the entirety is cured. Thereafter, alignment regulation force is incorporated to the surface of the flattening layer 37. A material of the retardation film is applied on the flattening layer, to which the alignment regulation force is incorporated, and the material is cured to form the aligned retardation film.

Also, a substance which absorbs the light with a wavelength equal to or longer than the predetermined wavelength and initiate polymerization is preferably used as a polymerization initiator of the material for the retardation plate.
