    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projector which takes the higher efficiency of heat radiation, lower cost, smaller size and remedy against dust of a liquid crystal display element into consideration.
      SOLUTION: Sheets of transparent glass having a thickness to hardly permit focusing of dust on a screen are respectively fixed and arranged on the incident surface side and exit surface side of an image display element. The liquid crystal projector which reduces the deterioration of image quality by the dust is made possible and the promotion of the heat radiating effect of the image display element is made possible by using the image display element of such configuration.

    • PURPOSE: To prevent the contrast of a projected image on a screen from getting low by inclining all the total reflection surfaces of a dichroic prism to a direction perpendicular to the optical axis of a projection lens. CONSTITUTION: The total reflection surface 14 of the dichroic prism 5 is a surface adjacent to a plane-convex lens 4 through an air layer, and is inclined to the direction perpendicular to the optical axis 15 of the projection lens 12 by a specified angle. An incident light beam 6 is separated into a red light beam 7R, a green light beam 7G and a blue light beam 7B by the prism 5. The respective light beams 7R, 7G and TB are reflected as a red light beam 9R, a green light beam 9G and a blue light beam 9B by reflection and scattering type liquid crystal panels 8R, 8G and 8B. The respective reflected light beams 9R, 9G and 9B are color-synthesized by the prism 5 and become the emitted light beam 10. A part 13 of the incident light beam is reflected by the total reflection surface 14 for the red light beams 7R and 9R and the unnecessary reflected light beam 16 is not projected on the screen because it is shielded by an aperture diaphragm 11.

    • PURPOSE: To display a bright video excellent in contrast even in a light environment by forming a reflection type screen from a plurally laminated transparent resin plate or glass plate to prevent the effect of external light. CONSTITUTION: The transparent resin plate 1 constituting the reflection type screen 7 has reflection increasing films 2, 3 on the surface and contains a dispersing agent 5 inside. The resin plate is formed by laminating four pieces with a spacer 4 and having an absorption layer 6 on one surface. In the reflection increasing films 2, 3, the 1st film is a low refraction factor layer 2 and the 2nd film is a high refraction factor layer 3. A polarizing film is provided on a window glass on the input side of external light and the surface of the cover of a room lamp so that the polarization plane is at a right angle to a polarizing plate on the output side of a liquid crystal panel of liquid crystal projector. Most of external light passes through the resin plate 1 and is absorbed by the absorption layer 6, and most of light from the liquid crystal projector is reflected.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the display device whose brightness is high and which can efficiently utilize light from a light source by making the shapes of plural prisms a pyramid state having one or more slant faces. CONSTITUTION:A conventional back light system constituted of the light source 1 such as a fluorescent tube, etc., a reflection box 2 whose inside surface is a mirror surface or a white surface, etc., and an opal diffusing board 3; and a plate-like prism sheet 401 in which plural quadrangular pyramid prisms are arrayed in a grid-state on one surface on the light source 1 side of a transmission type display panel 5 are arranged, and the flat surface side of the prism sheet 401 is on the diffusing board 3 side. In this case, as to the partially enlarged flat surface and the cross section of the prism sheet 401, the shape of the prism is the quadrangular pyramid state, and the cross section in a right- and-left direction and the cross section in an up-and-down direction are tooth- shaped. The diffused light made incident on the flat surface side of the prism sheet 401 is condensed in a normal direction by the prism sheet. Furthermore, a collecting rate is adjusted by the angle of the prism.
