    • Disclosed is a thermal transfer dye donating material, which has, on a support, a dye donating layer containing a dye of a general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; R.sub.2 to R.sub.8 each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a halogen atom, an acylamino group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, a cyano group, an alkoxycarbonylamino group, an aminocarbonylamino group, a sulfonylamino group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfamoyl group or an acyl group; A represents ##STR2## wherein R.sub.9 and R.sub.10, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; X represents a nitrogen atom or ##STR3## R.sub.11 representing a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; Y represents a non-metallic atomic group necessary for forming a 5-membered to 7-membered ring; and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 may optionally be bonded to each other to form a ring; and R.sub.6 and R.sub.9, and/or R.sub.9 and R.sub.10, and/or R.sub.7 and R.sub.10 may optionally be bonded to each other to form a ring. The transferred image from the material has an excellent light-fastness.
