    • An image display processing apparatus receives input illuminant information relating to input illuminant illuminating object when photographing, input device information specifying input characteristic of a photographing device, and image signal. Spectral reflectance image signal of the object is obtained from the image signal, the input illuminant information, and the input device information. Rendering light is applied to the spectral reflectance image signal, and output to a display device. A spectrum of light emitted from a variable characteristic illumination device for illuminating a display viewing environment can be varied. Spectrum of observing illuminant illuminating the display viewing environment is measured by a spectrometer unit. A spectrum of the rendering light is determined to substantially match with a spectrum of the input illuminant. The spectrum of the light emitted from the variable characteristic illumination device may be adjusted to substantially match the spectra of both the rendering light and the observing illuminant.

    • The invention provides a multiband image pickup method and device with good color reproducibility, which is capable of imaging a subject with a number of imaging bands of not less than 4 colors and obtain a color image of not less than 3 colors without lowering spatial resolution. A first imaging of a subject image is performed by a single-plate imaging device having a color filter composed of 5 colors of R, O, G, C and B. A control unit shifts the imaging element by a shift drive unit so that each light having formed an image on the each filter of R, B and G of the color filters forms an image on a position of the each filter of O, C and G of the color filters and, thereafter a second imaging is performed. A image processing unit generates 2 3-band Bayer images based on captured images obtained by the first imaging and the second imaging, and generates a multiband image of not less than 3 colors from them.

    • An image processing system includes a photographing apparatus (1) and a processing apparatus (2). The photographing apparatus (1) includes six LEDs (6a to 6f) for emitting light with characteristics of spectroscopic distributions varied in a visible light area, a monochrome-type CCD (8) which picks-up a subject image that is illuminated by the LEDs (6a to 6f) and is formed by an image pick-up optical system (7) and which outputs an image signal, and a CPU (18) which sequentially lights-on the LEDs (6a to 6f) upon an instruction for photographing a subject spectroscopic image being input from an operating switch (14), picks-up the image by the CCD (8), and thus controls the operation for capturing 6-primary-color subject spectroscopic images. The processing apparatus (2) includes a calculating device (21) which captures the 6-primary-color subject spectroscopic images photographed by the photographing apparatus (1) to create a display signal for color reproduction at the high fidelity level, and a display (22) which displays the display signal created by the calculating device (21).

    • An image capturing apparatus includes a first image sensor unit, a second image sensor unit, and a spatial frequency reduction unit. The first image sensor unit is capable of subjecting an object image formed by an imaging lens to a photoelectric conversion to output a first image signal having a first resolution and constituted by a first number of colors. The second image sensor unit is capable of subjecting the object image formed by the imaging lens to a photoelectric conversion to output a second image signal having a second resolution that is lower than the first resolution and constituted by a second number of colors that is larger than the first number of colors. The spatial frequency reduction unit reduces a spatial frequency of the object image formed on a light receiving surface of the second image sensor unit by the imaging lens.
