    • A cathode-ray tube display unit provided with a high voltage transformer for supplying high voltage to an anode of a cathode-ray tube, a deflection yoke having a horizontal deflection coil and a vertical deflection coil, and an interior conductive coating formed on the inside of a glass vessel of the cathode-ray tube, in which there is provided an electrode in the conductive coating form formed on an external wall face of a glass vessel at a funnel portion being electrically separated from an exterior graphite coating formed on an external surface of the cathode-ray tube and connected to ground, and a circuit for applying reverse pulse voltage V.sub.1 that satisfies (V.sub.0 .times.C.sub.0)>(V.sub.1 .times.C.sub.1) to the electrode in the conductive coating form is included. Where, it is assumed that flyback pulse voltage supplied to the deflection yoke means is V.sub.0, reverse pulse voltage having a polarity reverse to that of voltage generated in the interior conductive coating is V.sub.1, electrostatic capacity between the horizontal deflection coil and the interior conductive coating is C.sub.0, and electrostatic capacity between the electrode in the conductive coating form and the interior conductive coating is C.sub.1.

    • A color cathode ray tube includes a three beam inline electron gun; a deflection device for performing deflection and self-convergence; a static beam convergence device having permanent magnets for generating a magnetic field adjustable to converge three electron beams at a central portion of a phosphor screen; and a dynamic convergence device having coreless electromagnetic coils for generating a magnetic field adjustable to converge three electron beams at peripheral portions of the phosphor screen. The dynamic beam convergence device includes a spiral coil conductor formed on a non-magnetic film. The dynamic beam convergence device also includes two cylindrical holder members having large and small diameters, respectively, made of an insulating material, which are held in such a manner as to be coaxial and overlapped on each other; and a coil member including a plurality of printed coils for generating magnetic fields having an even number of poles contained in a flexible film, the coil member being disposed between the two cylindrical holder members having large and small diameters respectively; wherein a plurality of the printed coils are stacked in the flexible film in such a manner as to be insulated from each other; and printed coils adjacent to each other and having the same diameter are electrically connected to each other in the flexible film.

    • In a polarization transforming optics having a polarizing beam splitter (PBS) for transforming x-direction incident light flux from a metal halide light source into a single linearly (z direction) polarized light flux beam heading in the y direction and delivering the beam to, preferably, a light valve of a liquid crystal display (LCD) in a coordinate space, the PBS splits the incident light flux from the light source into split light flux beams, separates the split light flux beams into linearly polarized light flux beams having polarizing directions which are orthogonal to each other, and delivers two linearly polarized outgoing light flux beams having polarizing directions which are orthogonal to each other and heading in directions parallel to a polarizing direction plane. One of the two outgoing light flux beams is deflected by a single mirror to have the same heading direction and polarizing direction as those of the other. The PBS is constructed by jointing together, for example, a quadrangular pyramidal prism and two triangular pyramidal prisms. A PBS film is formed at each joint interface and a surface in contact with air of each prism acts as a total reflection mirror surface. No wave plate is used to provide a compact apparatus having a high light utilization efficiency.
