    • A switch includes a switching mechanism, an operating mechanism with a key which normally causes the switching mechanism to be in a switched-off condition when it is pulled out and to be displaced against a biasing force to be in a switched-on condition when the key is inserted, and a locking mechanism for maintaining the switching mechanism locked in the switched-on condition and releasing it from the locked condition if a load greater than a specified magnitude is applied to the key while the switching mechanism is locked such that the switching mechanism is set back in the switched-off condition. The switching mechanism may be contained in a head case attached to a main case containing the operating mechanism. The main case also includes a forcing mechanism which tends to force the switching mechanism in the switched-off condition. Normally when the head case is attached to the main case, the forcing mechanism is released from its forcing function but when the head case is removed from the main case, the forcing mechanism functions to displace the switching mechanism into the switched-off condition.

    • A variable speed control switch for an electric tool including a DC motor having an armature circuit, includes: a device for turning off and on the armature circuit; an upper heat dissipation cover for covering the top of the turning off and on device; a lower heat dissipation cover for covering the bottom of the turning off and on device; a printed circuit board located at the lower surface of the lower cover for controlling motor speed; a resistor element is provided on the lower surface of the board; a movable contact assembly, including a first contact member for short circuiting the motor terminals, a second contact member for turning ON the power source, a third contact member for short circuiting the turning off and on device, and a brush for providing variable resistance by sliding over the resistor element; a device for biasing the movable contact assembly to the position of short-circuiting the motor terminals; a box like casing which receives the above-mentioned components, the power source terminals, the motor terminal, and provides a depending support portion; an operation lever, drivingly engaged to the movable contact assembly at its upper portion, provides the depending support portion of the casing at its lower pivoted portion, and being adapted to operatively rock about that pivoted portion. By this simple construction the number of parts of the control switch is minimized and the construction is compact, light and cheap.

    • This pressure sensitive switch includes a bellows made of corrosion resistant material and with a hollow cylindrical body, which defines a pressure receiving surface on the outer surface of its one closed end portion, and with an open end which is fixedly secured to a fixed member in such a manner that the bellows may expand and contract in its longitudinal direction in response to small changes in the pressure difference between its interior space and the space outside it; a plunger mounted so as to reciprocate in response to the expansion and contraction of the bellows by being acted upon by the inner surface of the bottom portion of the bellows; and a switch assembly which is switched to and fro in response to the reciprocating motion of the plunger. This construction is compact and efficiently functional.
