    • A head suspension assembly includes a head, a load beam carrying the head at one end, a resilient member joining the load beam and a carriage, and a pivot bearing provided between the load beam and the carriage and structured so that the load beam is movable in a direction perpendicular to a record medium so that the load beam rocks. The head suspension assembly is structured so that the resilient member has narrow sections for reducing the width of the resilient member to a width smaller than that of both ends of the resilient member that are symmetrical with respect to a centerline of the resilient member. The distal end of the resilient member is joined to the carriage and the resilient member has an opening (hole) in the center thereof. This structure provides a highly shock-resistant and thin head suspension assembly.

    • The disclosed suspension assembly (S) for carrying a magnetic recording head in close following relation to a recording disc includes an improved arrangement for supplying a load to the recording head. The suspension assembly (S) includes a flexible gimbal section (10a) for mounting the recording head and accommodating dampened pitch, roll and transverse movements. The head load arrangement comprises a flexible cantilevered spring tongue (10b) and an elongate rigid load member (20) that extends from the free end of the spring tongue to contact the suspension assembly (S) adjacent the recording head. The load member (20) is configured to cause the spring tongue (10b) to resiliently deflect by a predetermined amount, resulting in a predetermined head load being supplied through the load member to the recording head.

    • A head suspension assembly includes (a) a slider having a head for recording into/reproducing from a record medium, mounted thereon, (b) a load beam having (i) the slider disposed via a flexure at one end, and (ii) a leaf-spring-like resilient member integrally formed therewith in the vicinity of the other end along the longitudinal centerline thereof, and (c) a carriage having a pair of pivots in contact with the load beam. The distal end of the resilient member is joined to the carriage and the resilient member has an opening (hole) in the center thereof. Because the stress occurring in the leaf-spring-like resilient member that is provided in the load beam of the head suspension assembly is reduced, the resilient member exerts sufficient urging force to the head and has high flexibility. This structure can provide a highly shock-resistant and thin head suspension assembly.

    • A head supporting device includes a supporting arm that is swingable in a plane parallel to a recording surface of a recording medium around a first swing axis and in a plane perpendicular to the recording surface of the recording medium around a second swing axis, a head that is attached to one end of the supporting arm so as to be opposed to the recording medium, a holding member that is allowed to swing around the first swing axis in conjunction with a swinging motion of the supporting arm around the first swing axis, and signal wiring that performs signal sending/receiving with respect to the head. The signal wiring is arranged so that from the head, the signal wiring runs through the supporting arm and the holding member in this order and then is connected to an electric circuit. Thus, the attitude of the supporting arm around the second swing axis is not affected by a reaction force generated when the signal wiring is bent due to a swinging motion of the supporting arm around the first swing axis.
