    • A crimping apparatus includes an anvil for supporting a metal terminal including a base plate portion for mounting an electric wire thereon and a pair of crimping piece portions extending upwardly respectively from opposite side edges of the base plate portion and a crimper which includes a groove portion being opposed to a supporting portion of the anvil. An inner surface of the groove portion of the anvil and a terminal support face of the supporting portion of the crimper cooperate to press the crimping piece portions for crimping the crimping piece portions to the electric wire mounted on the metal terminal. A width of the groove portion of the crimper is not more than 1.0 mm. The terminal support surface of the anvil is formed into a concavely curved surface in which a depth of the concavely curved surface is not smaller than 0.06 mm and is not larger than 0.17 mm in a cross-section of the anvil perpendicular to an axis direction of the electric wire.

    • The present invention is to provide a terminal for a flat circuitry. The terminal assuredly crimps a conductor of the flat circuitry and provides an improved electric connection. An electric connection portion of a crimping terminal includes a bottom wall for placing a flat conductor of a FFC and a pair of conductor crimping pieces. The conductor crimping pieces are upstanding at both ends of the bottom wall for crimping the conductor. A plurality of serrations are disposed outside ends of the conductor placed on the bottom wall of the electric connection portion and arranged in series with a distance between the serrations. The conductor crimping pieces start to deform at the serrations, or the best deforming position, for crimping the conductor.

    • Providing a terminal connecting apparatus for improving accuracy of connecting a terminal to a flat circuit body, an applicator main body includes a pair of guide walls for placing and positioning a terminal therebetween so as to arrange front ends of the claws of the terminal opposing toward an FFC and projections projecting respectively from surfaces opposing to each other of the pair of guide walls. When the applicator main body approaches the terminal mounted on the receiving base, the projections slide on outer surfaces of the claws of the terminal and remove parts of plated layers formed on the outer surfaces of the claws. Fresh surfaces of the claws and fresh broken surfaces of the conductor by the claws penetrating therethrough are connected electrically.

    • A wire connection portion of a terminal fitting to be connected to a cable for surface mounting includes: a bottom wall extended from the electrical contact portion for overlapping with a flat conductor of a cable for surface mounting; crimping blades vertically extended in a staggered fashion from both edges of the bottom wall for sticking into the flat conductor; and transversal projections projecting from the both edges of the bottom wall respectively corresponding to the staggered crimping blades. Outer ends of the transversal projections are disposed more outward from inner walls of the crimping blades at each side of the bottom wall. A gap between the crimping blades extended from both edges of the bottom wall is narrower than a curvature radius of curved portions formed between the crimping blades and the bottom wall.

By inserting the plurality of piercing terminals into the connector housing, making the claws pierce through the FFC, and bending the claws, the wiring harness is assembled.
