摘要： A display device with a touch pad function is provided which reduces the elements required to form a photo sensor while still accurately detecting input coordinate positions. The display device includes a display part on which a plurality of pixels are arranged in a matrix array, a plurality of photo detection circuits which are arranged in a matrix array in the inside of the display part, wherein each photo detection circuit of the plurality of photo detection circuits includes: a photo sensor which converts an incident light into a optical current corresponding to intensity of the incident light, an integral capacitance which integrates the optical current converted by the photo sensor, and a comparator to which a voltage of the integral capacitance is inputted, and the comparator includes a transistor of an open drain output type with a grounded source.

摘要： It is an object of the present invention to allow a specified function to be readily selected in a mobile telephone or the like without performing a complicated operation. A liquid crystal (30) is sandwiched between a TFT substrate (10) and a color filter substrate (20). A photosensor TFT (130) for selecting the function is disposed on the periphery of an effective screen of the TFT substrate (10). A window (24) is provided in a portion of the color filter substrate corresponding to the photosensor TFT (130), and the outside light is blocked as a result of the user touching a finger to the window. A signal from the photosensor is used for selecting the function. A correction sensor TFT (133) is disposed adjacent to the photosensor TFT (130), to thereby eliminating noise caused by the temperature distribution, stray light, or the like, and erroneous operation of the photosensoris prevented.

摘要： The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device which can recover a charge stored in a liquid crystal display panel without using an exteriorly mounted part such as a coil thus achieving the low power consumption. A display device includes a liquid crystal display panel having a plurality of pixels, a plurality of video lines which apply a video voltage to the plurality of pixels, and a drive circuit which supplies the video voltage to the plurality of video lines. In such a display device, the liquid crystal display panel has a common electrode to which a first voltage and a second voltage having a potential higher than a potential of the first voltage are alternately applied. The liquid crystal display panel further includes a charge recovering circuit which is connected between the respective video lines and a power source line and recovers charge when a voltage applied to the common electrode is changed over from the first voltage to the second voltage or when the voltage applied to the common electrode is changed over from the second voltage to the first voltage.

When a user touches the window with his/her finger, an external light is interrupted and a signal is generated, and the signal is used as a signal for selecting the specific function. The photosensor and peripheral circuits are formed using a process substantially equal to, a process for forming a TFT of a pixel portion and hence, the increase of a cost can be suppressed.
