摘要： When a reproduction device and a display device are separated, there is the risk that it will not be possible to appropriately overly menu images or the like on a 3D video signal in the reproduction device. This reproduction method, which outputs a video signal generated in a reproduction device to a display device, has: a step for reproducing a video signal; a step for generating image information to be superimposed on the reproduced video signal; a step for superimposing the generated image information on the reproduced video signal; a step for outputting the video signal to which the image information has been superimposed; a step for reading information relating to the display device from the display device; and a step for acquiring information relating to the state of the display device from the display device. The configuration is such that the method of superimposing the image information on the video signal is altered on the basis of the acquired information relating to the state of the display device and the read information relating to the display device.

摘要： An image displaying apparatus, for improving motion blur, in particular, on an image displaying apparatus of hold-type, such as, a liquid crystal display element, etc., comprising: sub-frame producing portions (5, 6) for producing a first sub-frame, a second sub-frame being lower in the gradation than the first sub-frame, from an image of one (1) frame of an image signal inputted; a histogram detection portion (2) for detecting brightness histogram of the image signal; an image determination portion (3) for determining on whether the image signal inputted is a high-gradation image or not, from that brightness histogram; and a level compensation portion (4) for lowering a gradation level of that image signal inputted. And, according to the present invention, lowering the gradation of the high-gradation image keeps the difference in brightness between the first and the second sub-frames, and thereby increasing an effect of improving the motion blur.

The monitor apparatus uses a CEC line to transmit a CEC vendor command including at least a code associated with unit information, and the set-top box apparatus transmits the CEC vendor command including at least the code associated with the unit information. Upon receiving the vendor command from the set-top box apparatus, the monitor apparatus switches to the linked operation with the set-top box.
