    • A random copolymer comprising ethylene, a 1,4,5,8-dimethano-1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a-octahydronaphthalene and optionally an alpha-olefin having at least three carbon atoms or cycloolefin. The mole ratio of polymerized units from the 1,4,5,8-dimethano-1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a-octahydronaphthalene to polymerized units from ethylene is from 3:97 to 95:5 and the 1,4,5,8-dimethano-1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a-octahydronaphthalene is incorporated in the polymer chain as polymerized units without ring-opening.The copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing ethylene with the 1,4,5,8-dimethano-1,2,3,4,4a,5,8,8a-octahydronaphthalene in a hydrocarbon medium in the presence of a catalyst formed from a vanadium compound and an organoaluminum compound which are soluble in the hydrocarbon medium.The copolymer has excellent transparency and a well balanced combination of heat resistance, heat aging resistance, chemical and solvent resistance, dielectric properties and mechanical properties such as rigidity.

    • An ethylene-alpha-olefin-polyene random copolymer rubber comprising ethylene, an alpha-olefin having 3 to 10 carbon atoms and a polyene, wherein (A) a molar ratio of ethylene/alpha-olefin is 55/45 to 95/5, (B) the polyene is a mixture of 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene (ENB) and 5-vinyl-2-norbornene (VNB) in a molar ratio of ENB/VNB of 1/1 to 20/1, (C) an iodine value of the copolymer rubber is 2 to 40, (D) an intrinsic viscosity [.eta.] of the copolymer rubber is 1.0 to 6.0 dl/g measured in decalin at 135.degree. This random copolymer rubber has an excellent extrudability and a fast cure rate and provides a vulcanizate having high tensile strength.

    • A copolymer of ethylene and an alpha-olefin having an ethylene content of from 30 to 90 mole %, a number average molecular weight of from 300 to 30,000 and a molecular weight distribution defined by a Q value (the ratio of the weight average molecular weight to the number average molecular weight of not more than 3 and a Z value (the ratio of the maximum value of the molecular weight to the minimum value of the molecular weight when the molecular weight is measured by gel permeation chromatography) of from 15 to 200. The said copolymer can be produced by a process comprising copolymerizing ethylene with an alpha-olefin in the liquid phase in the presence of a polymerization catalyst composed of a combination of a soluble vanadium compound and an organoaluminum compound in the co-presence of hydrogen, characterized in that(a) the copolymerization is carried out in a continuous manner,(b) the concentration of the vanadium compound in the polymerization system is maintained at 0.3 to 30 millimoles/liter, and(c) the vanadium compound is supplied to the polymerization system as a solution in a polymerization medium in a concentration which is 1 to 5 times the concentration of the vanadium compound in the liquid phase.
