    • The invention reduces the initial setting cost, the management cost, and reconfiguration cost of QoS guarantee for network devices. A management device has a control unit and the storage unit. The control unit obtains the number of terminals contained in the network system and connection relations of the network system at the time of initial setting for QoS guarantee. A control unit stores an operation policy which an administrator inputs. The control unit creates QoS control configuration for each connection path between adjacent two network devices using the number of terminals in the network system, the connection relations, and the operation policy. And QoS control configuration is the information for controlling the QoS guarantee of network devices. And the control unit sets the QoS control configuration in the network devices.

    • The purpose of the invention is to provide a distributed cache system applicable to a large-scale network having multiple cache servers. In a distributed cache system including multiple cache control servers, the content information is divided and managed by each cache control server. When content requested from a client is stored in the distributed cache system, a cache cooperation router forwards the content request to the cache control server which manages the information of the requested content. A cache control server has a function to notify its own address to the distributed cache system when the cache control server is added to the distributed cache system. When a cache control server receives the notification, it sends content information to the new cache control server and synchronizes the content information. Thus, a cache control server can be added to the system with ease.

    • A router with a server incorporated to provide services has a problem in that the server's resource cannot be allocated dynamically according to user requests. Service request packets received at a plurality of network interfaces are controlled such that the total bandwidth of the service request packets does not exceed a preset threshold. This makes it possible to process as many service requests from users as possible while limiting a server resource occupied by one service to a fixed amount. The network interfaces are notified of how much of a server resource is occupied by each service. In the case where one service consumes less than its allocated resource amount, the resultant surplus resource is made available to other services by easing the bandwidth control on other services. The above problem is thus solved.
