    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine room-less elevator capable of increasing the ratio of the lifting range of a counterweight to the overall length of a hoistway without relying upon a reduction in height dimension from a pulley fitted to the upper part of the counterweight to the lower end of the counterweight.
      SOLUTION: One end of an upper frame 24 is disposed at a position lower than the rotating shaft 6a of the pulley 6, and the other end of the upper frame 24 is disposed at a position higher than the rotating shaft 6a of the pulley 6. The height position of one end of the upper frame 24 is set lower within a range where the height dimension H from the pulley 6 to the lower end of the counterweight 20 can be secured to stack weight pieces 27a of such number of sheets to fulfill the weight of the counterweight required for the function thereof so as to reduce a distance dimension A between the pulley 6 and a sash pulley 8 when the counterweight 20 is lifted to its uppermost part.
