    • A printer paper tray improper loading protection system which is automatically moved by the repositioning of a conventional repositionable stack edge guide to restrict improper loading of sheets into the area of the tray which is outside of the proper sheet stacking area for sheet feeding, even though that restricted area varies depending on the selected size of the sheets being properly loaded within the proper sheet stacking area. A customer warning and partial obstruction of the non-feeding restricted area of the tray eliminates confusion as to where the operator should load paper into the tray whenever the tray is accessed, no matter where the tray stack edge guides are positioned for different paper sizes. An accordion-folded, reeled, or other expandable and contractible member operatively connects between the repositionable stack edge guide and the opposite end of the tray, extending above the tray stacking surface therebetween.

    • Increased manual access spaces are provided even within a more compact printer for the movement or removal of printer components such as paper path baffles to be moved for the removal of jammed sheets and/or other hand or tool insertions by printer users and/or repair personnel. This is provided by automatically reducing the normal operating space occupied or required by at least one operative printer component during a machine shutdown in or near such desired manual access areas. In particular, by replacing at least part of at least one of the present rigid space-consuming air ducts or manifolds in a printer with a collapsible portion adjacent to at least one paper path jam clearance area or other desired manual access area which at least partially collapses upon printer shutdowns removing power from the blower for that air duct to substantially increase unobstructed manual access.

    • A single piece, elongate sleeve bearing or bushing device is suitable for use in a bushing hole of a wide free spinning member, such as in the deep bushing hole of a long idler roller, a wide idler pulley, a wide idler gear or the like, to form at least a pair of axially spaced bearing surface regions about a shaft. The single piece bushing device has a thin generally cylindrical wall, an oversized central bore, and a plurality of axially spaced, oversized exterior surface regions including one located at each end of the thin wall. The raised regions are interspaced by a low region, and are compressed locally upon assembly in order to press fit the bushing device into the deep bushing hole of the free spinning member. Such compression causes radially aligned regions of the interior surface of the central bore to close in on the shaft, thereby forming a plurality of axially spaced and pre-aligned bearing surface regions about the shaft.
