摘要： Glass tubes are fed one at a time from a supply to a station. Each of the tubes is rotated in the station about a longitudinal axis of the tube in the station and is simultaneously pressed axially against a fixed stop. A laser beam is directed at the rotating tube in the station at a location along the tube offset from the stop to melt the tube at the location and cut from the tube a section lying between the location and the stop. After cutting from the tube, the tube section is transversely displaced onto a conveyor and transported away from the station by the conveyor. Then the tube in the station is advanced axially into engagement with the stop and the steps of rotating, cutting, and so on are repeated until the tube is exhausted.

The envelope is compressible parallel to the needle. The envelope is generally cylindrical and formed as a cuff, for instance with annular corrugations allowing it compress axially very easily.

A cup-shaped safety cap bearing axially inward on the plug has an annular and axially inwardly directed end edge confronting the retaining-ring edge and spaced axially therefrom by a gap which is bridged by a plurality of angularly spaced frangible webs unitarily formed with the ring and with the cap and extending from the cap edge to the ring edge. A plurality of angularly spaced spacer blocks formed on one of the edges and alternating with the webs project at least partially across the gap toward the other edge.

Respective pivots secured between one of the ends of each of the movable segments and the carousel allow movement of each of the movable segments between an inner position with its outer edge nonparallel to the outer edges of adjacent fixed segments and an outer position with its outer edge parallel to the outer edge of a one of the adjacent fixed segments. A controller at the loading and unloading stations pivots the movable segments into the outer positions when same are stopped in the loading and unloading stations and otherwise normally maintains the movable segments in the inner positions. A row of a plurality of holders is provided for the objects on each of the outer edges so that when a fixed segment block and a movable segment block are in the loading or unloading station all of the respective holders are aligned and can be loaded or unloaded simultaneously.

摘要： A hypodermic syringe has a tubular body extending along and centered on an axis and having at an axial front end a small-diameter collar formed with a front radially outwardly open seat and, axially spaced backward therefrom, a rear radially outwardly open seat. An end piece provided with a deformable plug fittable sealingly in the collar is adapted to receive a needle. Mounting fingers extending axially back from the end piece have rear ends that engage in a front position of the end piece in the front seat and in a rear position of the end piece in the rear seat. The fingers are of such an axial length that the plug is fitted snugly into the collar in the rear position but is not snugly fitted in the collar in the front position. When the end piece is in the front position a medicament in the body can be lyophilized and when in the rear position the syringe is plugged.
