    • An air induction device (11) for an internal combustion engine including an air filter housing (12) with an open induction tube (13) leading away from it and a supplementary induction tube (14) having a closing element, preferably in the area of its end opening (15). The closing element may take the form of a rotary flap (17) and is actuated depending on engine speed. The housing (12) and the induction tubes (13, 14) are configured in geometrical terms in such a way that at low engine rotational speeds, the housing (12) and the open induction tube (13) form a Helmholtz resonator, while the closed supplementary induction tube (14) forms a quarter-wave tube leading from the housing (12). At higher engine rotational speeds, the supplementary induction tube (14) is opened, and the overall length of the supplementary induction tube (14) is adapted so that at the higher speeds, it forms a Helmholtz resonator with the air filter housing (12) and the open induction tube (13).

    • A component, especially a part of an intake system or an air filter, for installation under the hood of a motor vehicle has a housing with a first housing part and a second housing part that are connected to one another. The first housing part is of a two-part configuration and has a support frame and a receiving part. The support frame is supported on the second housing part. The receiving part and the support frame are secured relative to one another by a releasable connection. The releasable connection is designed such that, when an external force acts on the receiving part, the releasable connection is released and the receiving part and the support frame slide telescopingly into one another.

    • A duct system with a throttle valve, particularly useful as an air intake duct for an internal combustion engine, in which the throttle valve is configured in such a way that in the closed position it covers only a partial region of the cross-sectional area of the duct which is to be throttled and leaves another partial region open so that air can continue to flow through the intake duct. This condition is suitable, particularly at low engine rotational speeds, to dampen the air intake noise of the internal combustion engine. When the throttle valve is positioned perpendicular to the direction of air flow through the duct, sound waves in the air intake duct of the internal combustion engine are reflected back toward the engine, and in this way an economical possibility for influencing the air intake noise results which also can be utilized to design a desired noise profile for the engine.

    • An intake system 10 which can be used for cooling a battery in a motor vehicle. This intake system 10 has a raw air inlet 11, a raw air duct 12, a filter housing 13, a filter element 14, a clean air outlet 15, a clean air duct 16 and an intake air manifold 17. The filter element 14 is placed in the filter housing 13 such that the air which flows from the raw air inlet 11 through the raw air duct 12 into the filter housing 13, must pass through the filter element 14 before it reaches the clean air duct 16 to the intake air manifold 17. The filter element 14 also has a curvature by which it at least partially follows the contour of a battery box wall 18 of an adjacent battery box 19. The filter element 14 can be made curved or in multiple parts.
