    • The invention relates to a response system for detecting, locating and responding to a person in an abnormal physiological condition, said system comprising positioning means (12) arranged to provide an information about an actual location of the person and monitoring means (11) arranged to monitor an abnormality in the physiological condition of the person, said monitoring means comprising a sensor (6) to acquire a signal related to a physiological condition of the patient, a processor (8) to process the acquired signal in order to establish where the abnormal condition has occurred, said processor being arranged to produce a trigger signal to generate an alarm, an alarm generating means (10) arranged to generate the alarm upon a receipt of the trigger signal, said alarm generating means being further arranged to provide an indication of a location of the person said indication of the location being provided by a positioning means (12). In order to provide a valid position information of the user in case of an emergency the system comprises further a position indication marker (PIM) device (14) arranged to store the valid position information in a storage unit (13). The PIM device is arranged to download the position information as a co-ordinate, address or any other suitable description of the position of the user and to transmit said information to the monitoring means in case of the emergency.

    • A device to carry out a bioelectrical interaction with an individual by means of electrodes 29, 29a whereby an on-demand verification of the integrity of the electrical contact of the electrodes is implemented. The device 20 comprises a control unit 22 arranged to determine an occurrence of the predefined event related to a quality of a measured signal. In case the predetermined event is detected, the control unit 22 actuates the testing means 24. The testing means is arranged to generate the test signals, I1, 12 and to apply them via a coupling circuit 23, 23a to the electrodes. In case it is desired that cumulative information about the contact integrity is obtained, is it sufficient to apply a single test signal per electrode. In case it is required to determine which of the electrodes has lost its contact, a sequence of test signals is generated by the sequencer 24b. The response signal from the electrodes 29, 29a is forwarded to the input filter 26, which is preferably also used for a normal signal analysis. The signal from the input filter 26 is directed via the input impedance 25, 25a to the input amplifier 28. The amplified response signal is forwarded to the signal processing means 30 which is arranged to analyze the response signal. Preferably, an amplitude analysis is done. The signal from the signal processing means 30 is supplied to the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) 32 after which a digital processing of the response signal is carried out by means of a further processing unit 34. In case the further processing unit 34 determines that the integrity of the contact is below the allowable level, the lead-off indicator 36 is actuated.

    • A monitoring device (21) arranged to measure a signal (S1) representative of a physiological condition of the individual by means of a suitably arranged sensor (22) and to automatically modify a contact pressure (P) of said sensor meeting real-time requirements. For this purpose the sensor (22) is supported by a piece of elastic material, the monitoring device further comprising an actuator (27) arranged to interact with the piece of elastic material upon receipt of a control signal (CS) from a control unit (25). The control unit (25) is arranged to analyze the signal (S1) from the sensor (22) and to decide on an alteration of the contact pressure (P). For this purpose the control means (25) comprises a logic unit (25a) arranged to carry out a suitable signal analysis. Preferably, the monitoring device (21) is arranged with a further sensor (23), a signal (S3) of which is also provided for analysis to the control unit (25).
