    • The invention is directed to an arrangement of an air filter (1) and a membrane carburetor (2). The membrane carburetor (2) has an intake channel section (3) configured in the carburetor housing (4) and fuel-conducting channels (6) open into the intake channel section (3). The channels (6) are supplied from a fuel-filled control chamber (7) which is configured in the carburetor housing (4). The control chamber (7) is partitioned from a compensation chamber (11) via a control membrane (10). The compensation chamber (11) communicates with the housing (14, 16) of the air filter (1) via a compensation channel (13) downstream of an air filter element (39). The air filter housing (14) engages over the membrane carburetor (2) essentially on the side of the compensation chamber (11) and the clean chamber (24) of the air filter housing (14) communicates with the intake channel section via a connecting stub (37) which lies approximately at right angles to the intake channel section (3). The connecting stub (37) is used as a connection between the clean chamber (24) of the air filter (1) and a flow space (26) mounted forward of the intake channel section (3) in order to ensure a reliable compensation where available space is tight. The volume of the flow space (26) is greater than the volume of the connecting stub (37) and the compensation channel (13) branches away from the flow space (26).

    • A two-stroke engine includes an air channel for supplying substantially fuel-free combustion air and a mixture channel for supplying an air/fuel mixture. The air channel and the mixture channel connect the cylinder of the two-stroke engine to an air filter. A section of the mixture channel and a section of the air channel are guided in a common component. In order to prevent induction of mixture into the air channel, the length (a) of the mixture channel and the length (b) of the air channel are so matched to each other that the pressure wave in the air channel, which forms during operation, oscillates in phase with the pressure wave formed in the mixture channel. The length (a) of the mixture channel is matched to an optimal fuel induction via the fuel opening. A method for tuning the two-stroke engine provides that the length (a) of the mixture channel is matched to an optimal fuel discharge from the fuel opening in a first step and, in a second step, the length (b) of the air channel is so matched to the length (a) of the mixture channel that the pressure wave in the air channel and the pressure wave in the mixture channel oscillate in phase during operation of the two-stroke engine.

    • An internal combustion engine has a cylinder with cylinder liner and a reciprocatingly supported piston delimiting a combustion chamber and driving in rotation a crankshaft in a crankcase. A device for supplying fuel and combustion air is provided. At least one transfer passage connects in at least one piston position the crankcase interior with the combustion chamber. The transfer passage has a transfer port that opens into the combustion chamber and an opening that opens into the crankcase. Opening and transfer port are displaced relative to each other in circumferential direction of the cylinder. The cylinder liner has at least one segment of a piston bearing surface and forms at least one wall section of the transfer passage. The cylinder has an upper cylinder segment and a lower cylinder segment that are separately embodied. The cylinder liner is separate from the upper and lower cylinder segments.
