Pre-assembly eliminates trimming operations and rigging and misalignment issues. 摘要： An inlet door assembly and method for reducing noise from an auxiliary power unit (APU) (10) contained within an aircraft housing (12) is provided. The inlet assembly includes an inlet duct (21), an actuator (46) and a door (44). The inlet duct (21) is configured to extend from the auxiliary power unit (10) to the aircraft housing (12) and has a sidewall (38) that defines a flow passage (40) through which APU noise propagates. The actuator (46) is disposed at least partially within the inlet duct (21). The door (44) coupled to the actuator (46). The actuator (46) is also configured to selectively rotate the door (44) between at least a first position, in which at least a portion of the door (44) deflects APU noise in a first direction, and a second position, in which at least a portion of the door (44) deflects the APU noise in a second direction.

摘要： A hinging bellmouth (40) for an exhaust duct of an auxiliary power unit (APU) comprises a fixed nozzle portion (41), a motive nozzle portion (42) of substantially the same geometry, a revolute joint interface (43) comprising at least two hinge barrels (57) with their necessary support structure and hinge pin (70), and a fastener interface (44). The revolute joint interface (43) allows the motive nozzle portion (42) to remain in contact with the fixed nozzle portion (41)- during APU installation and removal. The fastener interface (44) allows the hinging bellmouth (40) to be maintained in a closed position during APU operation.

摘要： A dual action structural latch (10) is provided for securing hinged access doors to a frame. The latch (10) comprises a latching member (58) secured to the frame and defining a first aperture (60). A hook member (24) engages the latching member (58) to resist a tensile force when the latch (10) is in a closed position, and disengages the latchi ng member (58) when the latch (10) is in the open position. A shear pin (36) extends so as to engage within the first aperture (60) to resist a shear force when the latch (10) is in th e closed position and to disengage the first aperture (60) when the latch (10) is in the open position. A handle (20), when moved from the closed position to the open position, sequentially withdraws the shear pin (36) from the first aperture (60) and disengages the hook member (24) from the latching member (58), and when moved from the open position to the closed position, sequentially engages the hook member (24) with the latching member (58) and inserts the shear pin (36) in the first aperture (60).

摘要： The present invention provides a method for replacing an acoustic liner through the forward end or aft end of an integrated exhaust duct muffler ("IEDM"). The IEDM includes a bellmouth coupled to a forward end of the IEDM and an exhaust pipe coupled to an aft end of the IEDM. A muffler section, including the acoustic liner, is positioned between the bellmouth and exhaust pipe. In one embodiment, the method of replacing the acoustic liner from the forward end of the IEDM includes decoupling the bellmouth and forward end cap of the muffler section from the forward end of the IEDM and withdrawing the acoustic liner from the muffler section. A new acoustic liner is then inserted into the muffler section and the bellmouth and forward end cap are recoupled to the forward end of the IEDM. In another embodiment, a method of replacing an acoustic liner of an IEDM from an aft end is disclosed. The method includes removing the exhaust pipe from the aft end of the IEDM and withdrawing the acoustic liner from the muffler section. A new acoustic liner is then inserted into the muffler section and the exhaust pipe is attached to the aft end of the IEDM. In another embodiment, a method of replacing an acoustic liner of an IEDM from a forward end is disclosed. The method includes removing the bellmouth from the IEDM and withdrawing the acoustic liner from the muffler section. A new acoustic liner is inserted into the muffler section and the bellmouth is reattached to the IEDM.
