    • The present invention relates to a safety device and method for protection of the integrity of well barrier(s) (5) or other interfacing structure(s) at an end of a riser string or a hose (2), the safety device comprising a releasable connection (6) in the riser string or hose (2), the releasable connection arranged to release or disconnect during given predefined conditions in order to protect the well barrier(s) (5) or other interfacing structure(s). According to the invention, the safety device safety device comprises at least one sensor (19) to monitor at least one of tension loads, bending loads, internal pressure loads and temperature, where said at least one sensor is arrangeable on a segment of the riser or hose (2), and where said at least one sensor (19) is adapted to provide measured data relating to at least one of tension loads, bending loads, internal pressure loads and temperature, an electronic processing unit (20) adapted to receive and interpret the measured data form said at least one sensor (19), an electronic, hydraulic or mechanical actuator or switch (15) arranged to receive a signal from the electronic processing unit (20) and initiate a release or disconnect of the releasable connection.
