    • PURPOSE:To perform automatic detection of minute defects, foreign matters and the like in the inside and the surface of a metal sheath tube by arranging ultrasonic flaw detecting pieces so that the sum of the flaw detecting ranges of the metal sheath tube with the ultrasonic flaw detecting probes covers the entire circumference of the metal sheath tube. CONSTITUTION:Ultrasonic flaw detecting probes 2 are arranged under the state of the constant incident angle and incident path for the surface of the ultrasonic waves with respect to the surface of an aluminum tube 1. An ultrasonic wave 3, which is emitted from each flaw detecting probes 2, enters into the inside of the tube 1 after the propagation in the water. The ultrasonic wave is reflected from the surface of the flaw detecting piece 2 in halfway, foreign matterns, defects and the like in the surface and the inside of the pipe 1, and the echo waves are generated. The flaw detecting probes 2 repeat the emission of the ultrasonic wave and the reception of the echo waves at a high speed. An ultrasonic flaw detection controller 5 controls the emission of the ultrasonic wave and the reception of the echo waves with the respective flaw detecting probes 2, detects the foreign matterns, the defects and the like in the inside and the surface of the tube 1 and outputs detected signals 6 of the foreign matters, the defects and the like to a controller 31.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of inspection irregularity and to shorten an inspection time by detecting an abnormal place while the entire inspection range of a material to be inspected is subjected to square scanning at a coarse pitch. CONSTITUTION:In the first square scanning, the entire inspection range of a material 12 to be inspected is rapidly scanned at a coarse pitch P2. During this scanning, an abnormal place 36 is detected by an ultrasonic flaw detector 15 and specified on the basis of the indication signal of the abnormal place and the position data from a positioning control part 17 and the position data is stored in a position data memory part 18 each time. When the square scanning at the coarse pitch P2 is completed, an ultrasonic probe 11 is returned to the periphery of the abnormal place 37 on the basis of the position data of the memory part 18 and, at first, when the abnormal place 37 is caused by the contact inferiority of the material 12 to be inspected and the probe 11 or the coating inferiority of a contact medium 13, the periphery of the abnormal place 37 is again subjected to square scanning at the coarse pitch P2. When the abnormal place 37 is caused by the flaw of the material 12 to be inspected, the appropriate range thereof is further subjected to detailed square scanning at a dense pitch P1.
