摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain an on-vehicle display device capable of improving operability for the selection of an item from a menu screen having hierarchical structure by displaying indexes corresponding to an item group in each hierarchy on the menu screen by a display means. CONSTITUTION:Indexes corresponding to an item group in each hierarchy obtained by hierarchically constituting the items of various information are displayed on the menu screen of each hierarchy. When a crew touches any one of selecting items displayed on a display 2, the selected item is detected by a touch panel 3 and display switching processing or item setting processing corresponding to the touched item is executed. Since the indexes corresponding to the item group of each hierarchy are displayed, which hierarchy where the selecting operation is applied at present can easily be grasped and a feeling of safeness can be obtained even in the case of selecting an item from a menu screen with a deep hierarchy.

摘要： PURPOSE:To quickly and precisely recognize direction by causing a display means to display map information which is read out according to the current position of a vehicle, and displaying the current position of the vehicle superposing on a marked map. CONSTITUTION:A geomagnetism sensor 1 detects the direction of travel of a vehicle from geomagnetism and outputs it to a locator part 3. A wheel speed sensor 2 detects the speed of travel of the vehicle from wheel speed and outputs it to the locator part 3. The locator part 3 computes the coordinates of the current position of the vehicle from information about the direction and speed of travel, which is inputted from each sensor, and the part 3 then outputs the coordinates to a display control unit 6 as current-position information. The unit 6 generates map retrieval information in accordance with the current-position information inputted, and reads map information for the destination or the area including the current position from a CD-ROM4 in accordance with the map retrieval information, and displays the map information on the screen of a display device 7. The unit 6 further detects the relationship between the destination and the current position of the vehicle from the destination information and the current-position information, and computies the direction of the destination of travel.
