    • PURPOSE:To prevent an interrupt of a call and to continue the communication at changeover by devising the system such that a processor of a standby packet exchange processing unit accesses directly a memory of an active packet exchange processing unit via a selector through the use of a line exclusive for memory. CONSTITUTION:When any effect is imposed on a memory 3a in the case of excluding a switching cause, a system configuration controller 7 sends a memory copy command 20 to a processor 2z in a standby packet exchange processing unit. The processor 2z in the standby packet exchange processing unit 1z sends a copy start command to a selector 4z. The selector 4z uses a line 6a exclusive for a memory to start high speed copying 22 of information from a memory 3a in an active packet exchange processor to a memory 3z of a standby packet exchange processor. When the copying 22 of the information is finished, the selector 4z in the standby packet exchange processor sends a copy end notice 23 to the processor 2z, which sends a complete changeover enable notice 25 to the system configuration controller 7.

    • PURPOSE:To relieve the load of an exchange station by implementing gate station selection processing at inter-network connection and connection request transfer processing at busy state of the gate station by the gate station. CONSTITUTION:Exchange stations P1-P3 receiving a call request of inter-network connection from a terminal equipment T1 reference an inter-network connection routing table, select a representative gate station corresponding to a called destination network address in a called address and transfer a call request to the representative gate station, e.g. G1. The representative gate station G1 receiving the call request references a selection table of the gate station to uniformize a load between gate stations G1 and G2 to select an optimum gate station and retransfers the call request to an optimum gate station, e.g. G2. In order to uniformize the load among inter-network lines L11-L14, the optimum gate station G2 references a line selection table to select an optimum inter- network line. Thus, the load of the exchange station is relieved.
