    • PURPOSE:To enable two or more electrostrictive elements to be driven by a same drive circuit to reduce the required number of the drivers, by shifting nozzle pitchs between the respective colors little by little to shift the timing of driving the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of nozzles 3 divided into (l) blocks, when nozzles of (m) number adjacent with each other are defined as one block, are aligned at angle theta to the direction in which the nozzles 3 move. When the pitch PN of the nozzle 3 has the horizontal component PNX and the vertical component PNNY and the dot to be printed has the horizontal component Px and the vertical component Py, they are so set as to meet the relations of PNX=nPx and PNy=Py. When the number (m) of the nozzles 3 is set 2, the vertical pitch Py has a relation Py=nPx tantheta between the nozzles for the same color, and Py=(n+1/4)Px tantheta between the nozzles for different colors, which induces discrepancy. But, this discrepancy reduces to a nearly inconsiderable amount by a method wherein; the large value is set for (n), results in theta of a small value, i.e., tantheta of a small value. It is needless to say that the value (n+p/l)Px can be applied to the vertical component in the pitch between different colors. (l, P are integers)

    • PURPOSE:To measure an ink level accurately irrespective of a temperature variation by correcting a value of detection resistance or a value of the reference voltage in accordance with the temperature variation of ink in detecting the ink level electrically. CONSTITUTION:A couple of electrodes 2 and 20 are provided at the bottom of an ink tank 1 storing the ink 3 and a driver 4 is connected with the electrode 2 at one side of them and impressed with the constant voltage. Then, the detection resistance 5 is connected with the electrode 20 at the other side and the detection voltage is compared with the reference voltage with a detection circuit 6 to measure the ink level. At that time, a resistance value of the detection resistance 5 is corrected in accordance with the temperature of the ink 3 using a thermistor 53 or the like. Further, the correction can be performed at the side of the reference voltage V. In this manner, the ink level can be detected accurately even if the resistance value of the ink 3 varies in accordance with the temperature variation.

    • PURPOSE: To realize a stabilized ink droplet jet discharge by controlling pressure variation within an ink chamber with a primary and a secondary pressure generating means, and at the same time by providing a tertiary pressure generating means to supply ink.
CONSTITUTION: A flute 11a formed on a silicone plate 11 by alkaline etching is divided into three areas by narrow portions 11b and 11c. By electrostatic bonding of a glass sheet 12 to the above silicone plate 11 three ink chambers 13a, 13b and 13c that are communicating in series are formed. The head of the ink chamber 13b communicates with a nozzle 14, and the tail of the ink chamber 13b communicates with an ink supply pipe 16 through a joint 15. Outside of the silicone plate 11 electromechanical transducers 17a, 17b and 17c which bend the silicone plate 11 to respectively reduce the capacities of the ink chambers 13a, 13b and 13c are bonded. Piezoelectric elements are used for the electromechanical transducers 17a, 17b and 17c, and driving pulse voltage Pa, Pb and Pc is applied to these electromechanical transducers 17a, 17b and 17c to discharge one ink droplet.

    • PURPOSE:To improve an ink droplet injection frequency to a great extent by applying pressure through the reduction of a volume and decreasing pressure through the increase of a volume using two different ink chambers. CONSTITUTION:A voltage is applied to an electric machine conversion element 13a and the volume of an ink chamber 11a reduced. At that time, a voltage is applied to the electric machine conversion element 13b, resulting in the rapid shrinkage of the ink chamber 11a. This causes the pressure of the ink chamber 11b and subsequently ink droplets to be injected through a nozzle 12. After the elapse of a fixed time following the application of pressure, a negative pressure must be generated in the nozzle 12 by decreasing the pressure of the ink chamber. To perform this pressure reduction in the ink chamber 11a, the voltage of the electric machine conversion element 13a should be eliminated. Next, the pressure is applied by the ink chamber 11a and the pressure is reduced by the ink chamber 11b.
